How a Culture of Learning Drives Performance

A program designed to inform business leaders and talent development professionals of ways to influence an organization's culture for learning, innovation, and performance. 

You’ve heard the adage, ‘culture eats strategy for breakfast...’

Our agile, V.U.C.A. environment, with globalization and digital transformations disrupting our traditional processes and practices, is demanding we innovate. As learning and OD practitioners, our solutions help leaders to rethink the way of working and the employee experience they’re creating. By challenging our leaders in the pursuit of building change ready, resilient, and capable teams, our contributions drive value for the organizations we serve. Leveraging a collection of learning and performance mechanisms, companies gain a talent-linked competitive advantage. The correlation between an organization’s ability to sustain and grow into the future marketplace is ever-more dependent on its ability to develop a learning culture.

In this program, we explore the research and ideas from key thought leaders working to bring high-impact learning cultures to life. Through discussion, we’ll expand upon those ideas and search for solutions to the roadblocks and pragmatic challenges presented in our work and community. Contributing to this conversation, you can expect to walk away with new ideas for building a culture of learning by:

  • Painting a Vision: Compelling stats and evidence to support bringing a culture of learning into focus;
  • Being Data Informed: Leveraging available inputs to inform decisions and strategies;
  • Embedding Leader Influence: Empowering leaders at every level, and lifting leadership with visibility and accountability;
  • Incorporating Research-Based Strategies: Bring solutions forward that aren’t just best practice, but also ‘best fit’ for your company;
  • Working Smarter, Not Harder: How today’s performer needs to know how to learn, and today’s high performer has ability, agility, and aspiration

About the presenter, Sara HarringtonSara Harrington Headshot

Sara Harrington is a passionate learning and talent development practitioner who believes success can be achieved by anyone with the right mindset, effort, and supportive environment.

Early on in her career, Sara learned the importance of these three keys to optimized performance as an educator in a small, urban high school. It was there, too, as a teacher and assistant director, where she found the balance for my creativity and curiosity – day in and day out, honing my strengths for instructional and learning experience design built upon a foundation of best practice research.

Additional years supporting a variety of organizations and industries, my acumen for talent management strategies has expanded. My career shows progressive leadership in a variety of domains. I’ve worked on everything from ethical training to talent review and succession planning. I’ve partnered with individual contributors and executives. I’ve created five-month rigorous, action-learning leadership development programming and one minute micro-learning videos. And, still, I find new and different ways to engage learners, lead leaders, and influence stakeholders.

With a strong personal conviction that each company’s only true differentiator is the people power of their organization, whether a team of ten or a team of ten thousand, I commit to delivering on the bottom-line results. I do this with pride, with quality, and with an eagerness that has always served both the companies who hire me and the communities where I live. After all, when we invest in our talent we drive outcomes.
